As approved by the Department of Civil Affairs of Shandong Province, Shandong Province Federation of Social Organizations Launch Ceremony & First Members General Meeting took place in Jinan on November 28.
The leadership structure and persons in charge of the first board of directors were created through a democratic process, while 147 representatives voted to pass such rules as the Articles of Association and Methods for Membership Management.
At the first board of directors meeting, Xu Zhen, secretary general of Shandong Electric Power Enterprise Association was elected vice chairman of Shandong Province Federation of Social Organizations. Knowing that it was an important responsibility, he said that he would, according to the relevant rules in the Articles of Association for Shandong Province Federation of Social Organizations, fulfill his duties as a vice chairman and work with other member institutions to turn a new page in the work of the Federation through solidarity and innovation. He pointed out that, as a social organization in the electric power industry with technology-intensive and talent-intensive characteristics, Shandong Electric Power Enterprise Association would, guided by the tenet of the Federation, fully leverage the advantages in talents and make new contributions to optimizing the service procedures of Shandong’s social organizations and improving the function of social organizations as a bridge of communication.
According to our source, upon its establishment, Shandong Province Federation of Social Organizations will be subject to the macro-administration and guidance of relevant government agencies. By leveraging its unique mechanism and advantages as a social, professional, and non-profit organization and coordinating the social resources in the whole province, it will protect the rights and interests of social organizations, make their voices heard, communicate state policies, laws, and regulations, and receive functions transferred from government. It will actively play its role in leading social organizations, promoting their integrity and self-regulation development, regulating the conduct of social organizations, invigorating them, improving their organizational capability, and so on. It will try to set up a main channel of communication and interactions between government and social organizations and an effective platform of exchanges and cooperation between social organizations and promote the healthy development of social organizations in the province so that they can become the force driving the building of a well-off society and contribute to the socioeconomic development in the province.
At present, there are 45,700 registered social organizations in Shandong Province, which come from various fields and have formed a comprehensive social organization system covering a large number of realms and developing in harmony socioeconomically. As a tie linking up the Party, government, and the masses, it is already an important force behind economic development and social progress.
