Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association Receives RMB50,000 in Organizational Development Fund

On December 25, the Department of Civil Affairs of Shandong Province held a symposium for provincial 5A social organizations, where honors were given to those social organizations that received the 5A grade in the first provincial social organization appraisal in 2014 and Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association received a prize of RMB50,000 in development fund. The event was attended by Xu Jianguo (deputy chief of Social Organizational Administration Bureau of the Department of Civil Affairs of Shandong Province), who presented the prize to Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association; Xu Zhen (secretary in general of Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association) attended the meeting.

In April 2014, Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association was rated as a 5A social organization along with other five associations by the Department of Civil Affairs of Shandong Province – the highest grade in the Department’s social organization appraisal. With this rating, the Association can receive the functions transferred from government and have its service purchased by government.

Xu Zhen, secretary general of the Association, made a report on the work that the Association carried out after rated as a 5A social organization. According to him, by participating in the appraisal, the Association has consolidated its basic management, stepped up its effort its talent development, and focused on external service. In 2014, after perfecting its normal work such as self-development and service industry development, it built upon its 5A social organization status and, in its effort to make more progress, formed a unique “new normal”. It helped to found the first provincial electric power industry CYL Work Committee under Shandong Province CYL Committee; this CYL Work Committee successfully organized Shandong Province 10th Electric Power Industry Youth Professional Skills Contest and led the top three contestants of this contest (the welding category) to the National Youth Professional Skills Contest where they won the championship; the Work Committee organized Shandong First Electric Power Industry Top Ten Youths” and provincial “Youth Civilization Institution” selections. On the platform of Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association, Shandong Association for Science & Technology has launched its Shandong Association for Electric Power Science & Technology, which would be very important for boosting the advancement of science and technology, academic and technological exchanges, promoting high-tech, and rewarding science and technology workers with extraordinary contributions. The Association will organize technological training and communication of laws and regulations as well as occupational education and training symposiums, and promote the Work Safety Law. It has built a social platform where power enterprises can exchange and discuss, thus breaking the barriers between power generation enterprises and power supply enterprises and promoting information communication and the development and progress of the whole industry.

In its next move, the Association will use the fund for reinforcing its internal standardized management, carrying out social activities, serving society, government, and its members in order to make more contributions to the socioeconomic development of the province.

In December 2014, Shandong Association for Science & Technology reviewed and approved the founding of Shandong Association for Electric Power Science & Technology, the first industry-level association for science and technology under it, on the platform of Shandong Province Electric Power Enterprise Association.
