IEA: Renewable Energy to Become Second Source of Power in 2016

According to evening news on June 26 (Beijing time), an IEA report claimed on Wednesday that renewable energy will replace natural gas as the second largest source of electric power after coal and that 1/4 of electric power will come from renewable energy in 2018, an increase of 40% over 2012.

As estimated by the IEA, biofuel will play a more important role in transportation and renewable heat except that it will not grow as fast as renewable energy; global output of biofuel is estimated to increase by 25% or more from 2012 to 2018, reaching 2.4 million barrels/day.
