Recently, Turfan & New Energy Demonstration City New Energy Microgrid Observation and Exchange Symposium, jointly sponsored by the NPC Environment and Resource Protection Committee and the National Energy Administration, took place in Turfan, Xinjiang. As our reporter learned from the symposium, the Turfan New Energy Microgrid Demonstration Project in Xinjiang is China’s first that has in commercially operating, representing the direction of strategic development in the country’s distributed PV power generation.
According to Wang Guangtao, chairman of the NPC Environment and Resource Protection Committee, this project mainly serves residential buildings mostly with solar energy. By integrating urban planning, green buildings, smart microgrids, green transportation, and so on, it promotes the comprehensive utility of renewable energy in urban development and plays an important demonstrative role in building a new urban energy system, management model, and the development of the domestic PV market.
