On October 30, Zoucheng Power Supply Company and Jinxiang Power Supply Company smoothly passed the second-grade enterprise (power supply) work safety standardization acceptance test organized by Jinan Electricity Regulatory Office and Shandong Province Administration of Work Safety, becoming two of the first batch of second-grade power supply enterprises that had passed the acceptance test. This signified the kick-off of 2009 power supply enterprise work safety standardization in the whole province.
Achieving work safety standardization at power enterprises is an important measure to improve the level of work safety management and boost essential work safety at enterprises. Since 2008, Jinan Electricity Regulatory Office has been the first government agency that has carried out work safety standardization at power enterprises in the nationwide electricity regulatory system. By the work plan “laying a foundation in the first year, preliminary standardization in the second, and perfection in the third year”, it has steadily promoted work safety standardization pilots in the whole province, while it has made good progress and achieved positive results. In 2008, 20 power supply companies and 29 power generation companies accomplished second-grade work safety standardization in the province, while 30 local power enterprises achieved third-grade work safety standardization. With such work safety standardization pilots, work safety accountability in these enterprises have been consolidated and the system of work safety rules have been perfected, while the work safety awareness of the enterprises have been improved, further enhancing essential work safety there and laying a solid foundation for comprehensive work safety standardization in the province.
2009 is a critical year for the promotion of work safety standardization at power enterprises. Early in the year, Jinan Electricity Regulatory Office and Shandong Province Administration of Work Safety jointly made the following specific requirements of the power enterprises in the province about the annual power work safety standardization: The large and medium enterprises in the electric power industry of the province will achieve 100% standardization while the others will attain more than 50%. The work safety standardization effort has received positive response from the power enterprises. Building on the pilot success last year, State Grid Shandong has decided that 15 municipal and 45 county-level power supply companies will undergo work safety standardization and meet the standardization requirements 100%. By the end of August, all enterprises involved in this standardization have conducted a self-check and submitted the acceptance application. These two enterprises, sampled for the acceptance test and passing it, indicated the excellent overall level of work safety standardization in Shandong.
